When Is The Right Time For My Child To See An Orthodontist?

When you pay a visit to Mighty Children’s Dentistry, Florida, we will examine your child and then refer him or her to an orthodontist for an evaluation. The American Association of Orthodontists & the American Dental Association recommends that kids’ orthodontics should be done from age 7. The orthodontist is able to detect issues with jaw growth and developing teeth at this age.  Active treatment for most kids begins between the ages of 9 and 14.

Dental problems in kids should be corrected during their growing years. Once growth has ceased, treatment may take more time and require a lot of work.

When’s The Youngest My Child Can Get Braces?

There is no minimum age for application of kids’ orthodontics. Kids can require orthodontics at any age. The treatment plan depends on individual requirements. For instance, children with cleft platelets may have the need for orthodontics even before they see their first teeth.

Treatment for other kids may start from 6 or 7 years of age, even if their primary teeth is still intact. Early treatment seeks to prevent the development of complications. It creates an environment that encourages the eruption of permanent teeth.
